Snöstorm

Tja

Ledig dag

Posted on January 30, 2008 23:01 by Simon

Hej igen.

Posted on January 30, 2008 03:21 by Simon

Dagen innan match

Posted on January 28, 2008 20:14 by Simon

Tja

SUNday

Posted on January 28, 2008 01:49 by Ryan

Hey Everyone,

Wasn't it great to see the sun out today?  I was over at Chris' place this morning to watch the Final Round of the Austrailian Open and we both couldn't believe how nice it was out.  It had been awhile since the sun was last seen.  The tennis match was great, as Novak Djokovic pulled out the win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in four sets.  Hank came over too and I think both he and Chris wanted to see Tsonga pull the upset.  It was a good thing it ended in four sets, we had to leave for practice right after the win.  Practice went well, we were in a small gym that had a terrible floor, but we made the best of it.  Coach was working me and King out in the post today, I think he was a little worried with all the shots we missed the last couple of games.  Basketball is a game of ups and down and I think we both hit a down part at the same time.  Im confident we'll both be ready to get after come Tuesday.  We were also really working on getting back in transition defense.  Coach said if we gave up any points in the paint, on a break ,we would have to run a "suicide" for every point given up.  It's amazing how the threat of running lines can motivate you to get back on D.  It worked though, only two layups were given up all practice.  We just need to get to the point where we don't need to have that motivation to get back on D.  We got some shots up too, and  finished off with some stretching.  We'll hit the weight room tomorrow morning, watch some film of our last game, then have another great practice to get ready for Solna.

This is gonna be my last blog for the week.  I just wanna say thanks to everyone who took the time to check it out.  I appriciate all your comments and just want to let you know that Im really enjoying myself here in Boras.  Everyone here has been really nice and the club has been really professional in every aspect.  I hope that we can work things out so that I can come back next year.  Thanks for your support at all our games too, you guys have been great.  I think that we haven't yet begun to reach our potential as a team.  Which is good, you don't want to peak too early.

Take care, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the season.

Day Off

Posted on January 27, 2008 02:06 by Ryan

God dag,

I thought I'd mix it up today and give you a Swedish greeting.  People always ask if I'm learning any Swedish, but unfortunately, I haven't.  Everyone here speaks such good english, I don't need to learn much Swedish.  When I lived in Turkey there were certain things I learned to help me get around, but here, I can just speak english.  I do need to make more of an effort to pick up some sayings though.  We had the day off today and days off are so much better after a win, rather than a loss.  I thought we were gonna have a big poker tournament at my place today but it turned out to just be four of us.  Hank, King, and Rasmus came over to play a couple little tournaments.  I wish I could tell you I took all their money, but they ended up leaving with mine.  Rasmus had an epic performance in the first tourney.  He went from being the short stack, and all in, to winning it all.  Hank won the second one in a dominating fashion, leading from start to finnish.  Even though I lost, it was still a good time.  It was nice to have the day off to help our bodies recover too.  We have practice tomorrow and it needs to be a good one.  We play again Tuesday against Solna, who are in second place.  We were able to beat them the last time we played and we need to be ready for them to try and pay us back.

Thanks for checking the blog out, tomorrow will be my last day of blogging and I get to pick who will take over.  Im not sure who im gonna pick yet but feel free to give me some suggestions on who you want to hear from.
Take Care,

Ryan

Big Win

Posted on January 26, 2008 00:02 by Ryan

Hey Everyone,

We had a big win tonight, I gotta say it was one of our bigger crowds and you guys were great.  We all feel good about the win, but at the same time, it's a game that we should have won.  We are ahead of them in the standings and we were at home.  I think this is the first time we've won two games in a row at home all season.  We do feel good about the win though.  Everyone is over at my place right now and we're talking about getting a poker tournament going tomorrow.  We have the day off tomorrow, so we'll enjoy doing something other than basketball.  Mikko won the last tournament so someone needs to knock off the rookie from being the champion.

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed the win as much as we did.  I really feel like this team is coming together and you can expect good things in the future.  Take care and I hope you check the website out tomorrow.

Ryan

Before I go, Chris wanted me to make sure I mentioned the big win from Novak Djokvic over Roger Federer in the Austrailian Open.  I have to admit, I saw Djokovic in the US Open and I was hoping he could pull out the win.  Hopefully he can beat the unranked Frenchman in the Final.

Have a good one.

Getting Ready For Gothia

Posted on January 25, 2008 00:58 by Ryan

Hey Everybody,

The day is over and we have a big game against Gothia tomorrow.  We are in eighth place right now, the last spot to make the playoffs.  I know there are alot of games left but we need to win against teams that are below us in the standings.  We need to take care of our games at home too.  All you fans have been great at the games.  We feel bad that we havn't been able to win more in front of you guys, but your support has been huge.  Especially these past two games, you guys have been loud and it really gives us extra motivation to work harder.  Gothia is gonna come out playing really aggressive defense and we need to be ready for it.  Practice went well today, we played some 5 on 5 full court and tried to simulater that aggressivness.  We got some shots up and feel good about our game plan.  Tomorrow morning we will watch some film on Gothia to give us a better idea of what to expect.  We'll get some shots up, eat a good pre-game meal, and be ready to give everything we can out on that court.

I hope to see you all at the game tomorrow.  We really appriciate your support and don't forget to check back in after the game.  I'll give you my thoughts about how the game went and thanks again for checking out my blog.

Take care,

Ryan

Recovery Day

Posted on January 23, 2008 23:47 by Ryan

How's it going everyone?

First off, I don't know if you all check out the pictures of our games, but there is a really funny picture of me and Jonas from the game yesterday.  I looks like we're dancing or something.  I don't know, I got a good laugh out of it.  Today was all about recovering from the game.  We went to Hasse's gym this afternoon to lift some weights and get a light workout in.  After that we all had lunch at Andreas Restaurant.  One of the perks for playing for Boras Basket is we get to eat lunch there everyday.  The food is great and we always leave there feeling pretty full.  I've played on other teams where we were on our own when it came to eating, so I really appriciate being able to go there everyday.  Practice was pretty light too.  We just ran some full court shooting drills to get some conditioning in and the last part of practice we just worked on individual things.  Some of the guys played 2 on 2, some guys were working on their shot, and you know I was at the free throw line working on that.  It's no secret that I'm struggling from the line but I want you all to know that I am working on it.  Tomorrow we'll get after it, going 5 on 5 and get our game plan down for Gothia.

Well, thanks for checking in.  This is the first time I've ever wrote a blog before so I hope I'm giving you guys some insight on whats going on with the team.  Take care and don't forget to check in tomorrow to see what's going on.

Tough Loss

Posted on January 23, 2008 01:51 by Ryan

Hey Everyone,

It's about 1:30 in the morning and we just got back from our game against Norrkoping.  It was a tough loss and we're all pretty upset by it.  It tough to lose a game that you feel your prepared for.  We knew what they were gonna try and do against us but we were unable to defend it.  Norrkoping is all about getting the ball up court quick for easy layups and quick, open shots.  We knew, going into the game, that's what they were gonna do and they were still able to execute against us. To top it off, we had a long trip back to think about the game.  The bus ride back after a loss is so hard.  All you do is think about what you could have done to help give us a better chance to win.  I've gone over all those missed shots I should have made and how I could have played better defense on certain plays so many times now.  Luckily we had a movie to help distract us for part of the trip.  But I know when I try and go to sleep tonight, it might take awhile.

But just as quick as we had to move on from our win against Sunsvall, we need to move on from this loss.  Tomorrow is a new day and we need to have a good practice to get ready for Gothia.  Thay have a new big man and a new coach so we need to be ready for them to come out strong.  Well, I'm gonna try and get some sleep now.  I'll let you all know how practice goes tomorrow and thanks for taking the time to check out our web-site.

Take Care,

Ryan
