Heartbreaking Loss for Borås

Borås loses a tight game to Stockholm 08 in overtime-83 to 84
The first quarter in the friday night game at Boråshallen was pretty uneventful.  Borås made a few careless errors and turnovers.  Their Stockholm opponents kept tight defense on Borås´ point guard Dennis Springs, therefore shooting guard Henrik Carlsson took over the position.  The quarter ended with Borås in the lead 23 to 22.

Borås slowly lost control of the lead in the second quarter despite great efforts by Michael Kingma and Jonas Larsson. Tim Håkansson made an appearance in the game after not playing at all in several past games. The second quarter ended 31 to 39, Stockholm.
Borås started the second half with a new found energy.   Jonas and Chris Anrin sunk a few three´s and Michael crashed the boards.  Ryan McDade got into foul trouble fairly early in the third quarter.  After scoring only 2 points in the first half, Dennis came back from halftime refreshed and began putting up more shots.  Michael was a ´´beast´´ under the basket, whether it be taking down rebounds or tipping in deflected shots. Jeremiah Johnson of Stockholm seemed to be leading his team in rebounding, stealing and shooting.  The third quarter ended with Borås trailing Stockholm 52 to 59.
Borås fought hard in the last quarter and with 6:30 left on the clock they were down by 1.  Jonas Larsson sunk a long three with 3:30 left to go bringing the score to 65-67, Stockholm.  Joakim Blom makes a ghastly turnover to Ryan with 1:30 left. Ryan gets fouled but misses his 2 shots.  Dennis drives to the basket successfully with 1 minute to go.  With 4 seconds left on the clock Dennis ties the game at 71 and brings it into overtime.
Borås looked amped up as they controlled the lead from the beginning of overtime.  Ryan fouled out of the game.  With two minutes left the score was tied again at 76.  Chris sinks a huge three and is subsequently fouled, bringing him to the line to put in 2 more points.  Borås now has the lead by 5 points and it seems like they have the game locked up- 81 to 76.  In a struggle over a loose ball, Jonas is fouled out and turns it over to Stockholm.  The game is tied yet again with only 15 seconds left.  Tomas Öberg of Stockholm takes a shot and misses.  Stockholm recovers the ball and Öberg banks the game winning shot at the last possible second.  The game ends 83 to 84.
In the post-game press conference Borås coach Anders Jonsson was distraught and at a loss for words over his teams´ defeat.  ´´Player of the game,´´ Michael says this was a heartbreaking loss.  He took a positive outlook on the game, even though there were many bad calls against him by the refs.  ´´The refs didn´t make us lose the game, we can only blame ourselves.  We made some mental errors in the first half but we played our hearts out.´´  The next game is January 13th at Uppsala.
